How to Export a H.264 Video for Streaming Online
H.264 Video Compression at the moment is the fastest and has the smallest footprint. H.264 Compression is extremely slick when streaming online. The following will show you how to Compress a Video using Quicktime Pro, giving the best looking video with the smallest file size. The Following will give you step by step instructions on how to export the Quicktime with the smallest File Size while maintaining Good Quality Video. While in Quicktime Pro (will also work in Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premier Pro, etc.) 1. File > Export Movie
2. Below the File naming box choose "Movie to Quicktime Movie"
3. Click "Options"
4. Video > Settings:
a. > Compression Type: H.264
> Motion > Frame Rate (if not important 15 Frames/sec)
> Motion > Keyframes: automatic
> Frame Re-ordering: if sequential frames are important do not check this off. b. > Compressor: Quality > below medium (still gives a good picture but lowers the size of the file)
> Encoding > Single Pass
c. > Data Rate > Automatic 5. Video > Size:
a. > 320 x 240 (Gives a decent size movie)
1. If you are exporting a widescreen movie:
> Check off "Preserve Aspect Ratio Using: Letterbox" 6. Sound > Settings:
a. Format: IMA 4:1
b. Channels: Mono
c. Rate: 22.050 khz
d. Quality: Fast 7. Prepare For Internet Streaming:
a. Fast Start (Will Allow user to start viewing video before it is fully downloaded) 8. A Typical 3 minute movie will be around 15mb at this compression. |
